Palissandre de Rio

Bronze

15"H x 17" x 10"

Artist: Jean-Christophe Couradin

My approach is a direct search of original, primary forms which have their own lives. Abstract sculptures carved from wood and bronze, the sensuality of the curved lines invites touch and the contours and folds impose their energy. Polishing makes it possible to pass from the austerity of the stripping to the radiating purity of light. In aquatic forms, the duplicity of the curves and edges allows the “frozen movement”, immobile yet living forms that suggest oscillatory movement, aquatic flight.
